Avalon Millworks is primarily... Doug Corvey; a custom cabinetmaker with 34 years in the trade (circa 2024). Here's his brief bio:
After two years of college, he entered service in the U.S. Navy until 1989 (ET3 ss). He then joined the Merchant Marine to work on lineboats traveling the Mississippi River. After the excitement of working on the river eased, Doug started work at the largest residential cabinet shop in St. Louis (Lami Wood Products), sweeping floors at first, and began to learn about the satisfaction which comes from working with raw materials until they become a fine finished product.
Doug spent the 1990's working shops in the St. Louis area; both residential and commercial. In 1999, he moved to the North Georgia/North Metro ATL area and found work as a commercial shop manager. In 2002, he began taking projects, both residential and commercial, as an independent contractor and acquired his first manufacturing space.
Today, Doug is still the primary builder in his shop; with help as needed from part-time professionals during busy times or installations. Avalon Millworks is NOT a large manufacturing business; it is a custom cabinet shop/woodworking studio dedicated to handmade production of custom cabinetry projects. The presentation is modest; the lead-times are sometimes longer; but the results speak for themselves...please click the photos tab to see our archive.
